Hey, the Westside will take all it can get, making us shudder with excitement just to see this newbie offering both dim sum and pho so far west of the 110. 5i Indochine opened quietly last month on Sepulveda at Sawtelle, serving a mish-mash of Vietnamese and Chinese dishes. Taking over a vacuum and sewing shop the world must have felt it could dispense with, 5i’s menu includes categories for appetizers with goi cuon tôm, chicken wings, satay beef, sui mai, shrimp patties, and har gow, as well a sections for nine styles of pho including brisket, chicken, and vegetarian, noodle dishes based on bun and com, as well as pad Thai and chow mein, steamed and fried rice, and specialty dishes like Mongolian beef, mabo tofu, and walnut shrimp.

Cafe sua da and coconut water are available to drink. So far, this unassuming little spot is racking up a formidable four-star rating on Yelp, while you can try it yourself seven days a week starting at 11:00 A.M.

5i Indochine, 5407 Sepulveda Blvd. Culver City; 310-572-6000.
