Sugar and Plumm Opens in the West Village; Maya Launches Lunch

Sugar and Plumm is opening its second Manhattan location on March 28 in the West Village. Like its sister location on the Upper West Side, this offshoot will offer French macarons and fresh pastries. But with only a few stools, it’s better suited for grab-and-go orders. [Grub Street]

Corkbuzz Wine Studio is offering a range of courses for the month of April, including “Perfect Pizza Pairings,” “Who’s Who of French Wine with Yannick Benjamin” and “New-School California.” Tuition ranges between $50 and $100. [Grub Street]

Maya launches a new lunch menu starting March 18, and it’ll be served from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Maya will also now offer delivery to the Upper East Side within a ten-block radius of the restaurant. [Grub Street]

• On April 1, the Smorgasburg Snack Bar will officially open on the second floor of Whole Foods Market Bowery. This new and permanent in-store venue will feature vendors including Butter & Scotch, Dough, Odette Williams, and Kelvin Natural Slush. [Grub Street]

Aldea will celebrate the food and wine of Portugal’s Alentejo region with a a four-course dinner on April 1. Chef George Mendes will prepare dishes including shrimp porridge and suckling pig. • Bid on 250 donated batches of extraordinary wines and packages for wine lovers through DeVine Intervention, an online wine auction created to benefit the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City. All proceeds from the sale price of each batch will be donated to the ongoing relief effort for people still suffering from Hurricane Sandy. The auction runs from March 25 to April 7. [Grub Street]

• This Easter, Bistro La Promenade will offer jazz alongside specials like almond-crusted French toast, strawberry shortcake, chicken paillard, and herb-crusted rack of lamb. The restaurant will also host an Easter egg decorating contest during brunch and dinner on Sunday. [Grub Street]
