In 2010, divers recovered five bottles of 1840s-era beer and several bottles of “unique old Champagne” from a sunken schooner in the Archipelago Sea near the Åland Islands. The autonomous government of Åland claimed the find and sent the beer off to the lab for analysis, and has now announced that local brewery Stallhagen will start production on the reverse-engineered recipe and debut the results in 2014. No one yet knows how much this “shipwreck beer” will cost, but the real question is, when will they start serving it at Tørst? [Visit Åland via PSFK, Earlier]
