Roth Distracted By All the Flubs at Caña

Anna Roth gives us a review today of the new S.F. branch of Cana Cuban Restaurant, in the former Circolo space at Florida and Mariposa. Though she finds their Cubano sandwich “glorious,” their Cuban fried chicken “perfect,” and their empanadas “flaky” and good, she’s way too bothered by other things to write a good review. There’s the awkwardness of the tables, the “inexcusably slow” service, and the “echoingly empty” space with a huge portion of the floor area reserved for live music and dancing that only may happen late on weekends. And they ran out of coffee beans at brunch. She observed the show Restaurant: Impossible playing on one of the bar TVs one evening and writes, “As the mistakes started to add up, I couldn’t help but think that the owners and staff could learn a trick or two from watching it.” [SF Weekly]
