When it comes to tasting events, no one does a more impressive job of curating an eclectic and star-studded line-up of chefs and restaurants as L.A. Weekly. For the first time since Jonathan Gold split with the publication, The Weekly organized its annual food event, now called “Plate,” at The Peterson Museum on Sunday, placing big name chefs and favorite everyday restaurants side-by-side in an authentic portrait of how Angelenos actually eat. Here was Jitlada serving pork belly and chicken curry between Mo-Chica’s artichoke anticucho and Nickel Diner’s doughnut holes, while Roy Choi handed out fireworks and cheese fries beside Mary Sue Milliken on an outdoor patio. Guests could enjoy both a classic French dip from Phillippe’s and the hyper-fastidious plating of Sang Yoon and Miles Thompson all under the same roof. How cool is that?
