“My body’s numb and my throat is dry,” Bruce Dickinson sang in the 1983 Iron Maiden song “The Trooper.” Now, thankfully, he’s made a fine English ale named after the song that’s capable of rehydrating all weary slamdancers. Brewed with headbanging yeast, Trooper Ale is a collaboration between the band and Robinsons, and hopefully is the first sign of a trend in metal microbrews. It goes on sale in May in the U.K. and will ship everywhere else via mail order. And if the clip straight ahead is any indication, it’s going to be a little less subdued than Bonnie “Prince” Billy’s Dogfish Head collaboration.
