The Weekly’s Anna Roth jumped at news about the opening of House of Pancakes, out in Parkside, and she offers a full review of the “no-frills” Chinese pancake joint, which was formerly a little to-go dim sum spot. She confirms earlier reports that the beef pancake is the star of the show (“A single one would cure a hangover in no time.”), and adds that the house special sesame pancake is also pretty good, as is rolled green onion pancake with egg and hoisin. Also on the menu, the hand-pulled noodles are “springy and chewy,” but the broths they come in are all fairly light, with the pork being the blandest. And this isn’t the place to go for dumplings.
