Joining Obama and Madonna, Chipotle’s expressing its disapproval of the Boy Scout’s discriminatory ban on gay members and leaders. The company had plans to participate in the “Scout-O-Rama” event in Utah and provide thousands of dollars’ worth of coupons, but it’s decided to cancel and stand by its anti-discrimination policy. “It was never our intention for this to be … some kind of an endorsement of broader Boy Scout policies,” a Chipotle spokesman said. But Chipotle does endorse professional athletes: this week, it gifted Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper free burritos for life. But a day later, Harper tweeted that he was ending his night with Chick-fil-A, so maybe Chipotle should consider terminating that sponsorship, too. [Daily Intelligencer, Vulture, NYDN, HuffPo]
