What to Eat at 20 Spot, Opening Friday in the Mission

A year ago January we broke the first news of 20 Spot, a new restaurant and wine bar taking over the former Force of Habit record shop at 3565 20th Street, and tomorrow will mark its debut. As Tablehopper reports, the menu consists of various small bites, like a deviled duck egg with bacon and horseradish; a winter vegetable salad with ranch and crispy onions (even though winter is thankfully over); and local albacore with kumquats, chervil, and Cerignola olives. And the eclectic wine selection is 100 bottles long, via co-owner Bodhi Freedom, who also owns Bacchus Wine Bar on Nob Hill, featuring 25 by the glass and three on tap.

The design, as discussed earlier, is by Wylie Price, who is the same architect who worked on Trick Dog and Presidio Social Club, and it features mid-century touches like vintage Eames rocking chairs, and sixties-era leather sofas.

And in a nod to the history of the place, as a beloved neighborhood record shop, all the music played there will be on LPs.
