The spectacle of hot sauce-slathered grown men and women gorging themselves on chicken wings until they puke, which in these parts is known as Wing Bowl, isn’t for everyone. And thankfully in response to this annual celebration of extreme gluttony and waste, the beautiful women of Philly Roller Girls fly in the face of that great gross-out with their own Vegan Wing Bowl. On Saturday that meatless extravaganza takes place at The Abbaye. For the third year in a row, roller girls and their admirers will try to woof-down as many crispy-fried seitan “wings” as they can during the length of a roller derby jam. That’s two minutes for the uninitiated. Winners from each round will be weighed, and the top three weights will be awarded prizes, and win bragging rights. Registration, which runs $20, begins at 3 p.m. All proceeds benefit Philly Roller Girls. The contest gets rolling at 4 p.m.
