Sake House by Hikari, the popular Japanese lunch spot and bro-tastic nighttime hang in Santa Monica, is currently closed, with an unresponsive phone and space undergoing extensive surgery. Not related to Hikari in Culver City, the now-shuttered space specialized in teriyaki, sushi rolls, and tempura, filling a needed niche for some of the area’s worker bees in search of affordable sashimi once mid-day struck. Still, it will hardly be missed by the Tar & Roses/Fig crowd. No word on what’s planning to take its place, or whether this is just a temporary shutter at this point.
