A new bar is on its way to a former retail space at 811 Washington in Old Oakland (at 8th Street) called Parliament Bar. It’s the project of a trio of entrepreneurs, Christopher Newell, Davina Dickens, and Jason Bradford, and the plan according to applications to city planning call for a daytime cafe with sidewalk seating, operating between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m., with the bar opening at 3 p.m. and featuring late night dancing and DJs. Parliament is on the same block as the new and popular District (827 Washington Street), and two doors down from historic Ratto’s market. The liquor license application is just going in and a significant buildout is required, so look for Parliament to open sometime early next year. [Grub Street]
