If anything, the take-home from Adam Richman’s America’s Best Sandwich was that our town’s greasy, Whiz-dripping icon, the cheesesteak, has taken a back seat to the roast pork sandwich. But that’s not holding brothers Michael and David Frank back from launching Del Rossi’s Cheesesteak Co. near Fourth and Spring Garden streets in NoLibs. And the upstarts ambitions stretch far beyond setting up a neighborhood take-out joint.

These guys are saying that they want to leverage chipped beef rib-eye, griddled onions and melty cheese (as well as their extensive menu of pizzas, burgers, hot dogs, and more) to build a pilgrimage-worthy destination that’s on par with Pat’s and Geno’s. Finnegan’s Wake just mere steps away, and dozens of other neighborhood nightlife haunts in close proximity means drunken, late-night weekend warriors from the burbs will no longer be burdened with cruising all the way down to Ninth Street and Passyunk Ave. for a cheesesteak after the bars close.
