The freegan world filmmaker Alex Mallis depicts in Spoils: Extraordinary Harvest is a stealthy, entertaining argument that Dumpster diving is less of a Portlandia-style punchline and more of age-old tradition with a cast of characters not unlike the heart-shaped potato seekers in Agnès Varda's ">The Gleaners and I.
