Westville Hudson Opens; Day of the Dead Tacos at Empellón

• Westville Hudson opens tonight, the fourth branch of the West Village original. This iteration will have a larger dining room and is the first with a full liquor license. [Tribeca Citizen]

• On Friday, Nov 2, East Village Mexican restaurant Empellón is recognizing the Day of the Dead with a six-course taco tasting menu. It’s $95 for settings before 9 p.m. and $125 after, and includes unlimited beer and margaritas. [Grub Street]

• New Lower East Side oyster bar the Leadbelly will host a tasting of Island Creek oysters and Karlsson’s Gold vodka on Tuesday, October 23. A dozen oysters and three flights of Vodka will be $45. [Grub Street]

Tompkins Square Bagels fell victim to a particularly brazen thief yesterday around 1 p.m.: He slipped into the basement doors, claimed to be a health inspector, and, failing to crack their safe, made off with a few smaller items, including a laptop. [EV Grieve]
