All signs point to yes: The speculation is that the popular, bright-yellow Belgian waffle truck will start selling its speculoos at 15 Avenue B. Two weeks ago, the Local EV reported that the new dessert shop would be “the first of its kind,” and yesterday, it was confirmed that Wafels & Dinges owner Thomas DeGeest has secured the space. DeGeest hints on Twitter to expect an announcement that has something to do with speculoos, the spiced shortcrust cookie sold in Belgium that Wafels & Dinges incorporates into ice cream. Last year, Midtown Lunch reported the custom ice cream was created by Benoit Gerin, a Jean-Georges alum who owns a company that makes gelato and other desserts. [Local EV/NYT, Twitter]
