The owners of the Abitino’s pizzeria chain are opening Vicolo today in Bay Ridge. The full-service restaurant includes a pizza oven that will turn out a roster of individual Neapolitan pies and a small selection of provisions. L’asso vet Luigi Olivella is making twelve kinds of pie and two calzones, while chef Bruno Milone, formerly of Marco Polo, contributes a sprawling menu that spans everything from grilled smoked mozzarella with speck and asparagus to truffled tagliolini twirled tableside inside a hollowed wheel of Parmigiano-Reggiano. It’s probably reasonable to expect some showmanship and a lot of good cheese.
