Umami Burger opened its first store in Pasadena on Monday in a very understated, streamlined space that looks a little like a Japanese classroom, with white walls contrasted with three square canvases of black kanji and a chalkboard. Every newly introduced Umami has its own exclusive burger and while our hopes that the city’s famous daughter, Julia Child, may get a shout-out in burger form prove unfulfilled, LAist explains that the chain is partnering with Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts on the soon-to-be-debuted special (Child famously attended a separate system of Le Cordon Bleu in Paris).
But before the final recipe is settled upon, Umami is teasing out its new collaboration by currently selling a chicken cordon bleu burger featuring a ham-crammed breaded chicken patty with béchamel, found solely at this location for the time being. [LAist]
