With Nitehawk Cinema and the upcoming Alamo Drafthouse spearheading the dinner-and-a-movie trend, earlier this month, Sunshine Cinema proclaimed its intentions to get into the grub-slinging game. Now it seems the scope of the project is much larger than was first apparent: According to flyers papering poles near the East Houston cinema, Sunshine Lounge will consist of “a full restaurant on two floors of the theatre that will be open to the public all day,” for a total of “two restaurants with full bars, four floors of table seating and a grand revamping of the interior of our theatres and lobby areas.” Assuming owner Landmark Theatres can get all this past CB3, wonder which well-known chef wants to take on a theater next?
