‘Planet Taco’ Under Discussion at USC

Planet Taco

Today is National Taco Day, carnales. So whatever you eat, just make sure to put it between a tortilla or two, mmkay? Next Tuesday, tacos will be honored with more than just a holiday, but an entire celestial sphere, as professor Jeffrey Pilcher will appear at USC for a lecture called “Planet Taco: A Global History of Mexican Food.” Running from 3:00 to 4:30 P.M. the author of Que Vivan Los Tamales! will look at the journey tacos have taken from their humble Mexican origins to their widespread acceptance by the entire world (which is not an endorsement, we assume, of munching tacos while in Prague). And if taco intellectualism isn’t enough to put your nalgitas into a chair, the free lecture is followed by an freer taco reception catered by Chichen Itza. Yup, free tacos! Details online.
