Carol Brandt, a fifteen-year parks and recreation employee in Montecito Heights, is charged with grand theft and misappropriation of funds for stealing $17,000 from users of a local rec center, some of it amassed from $10 lunch money payments made by young campers, which Brandt would pocket before charging the fees to a city credit card. Now that’s low! One source says, “What makes it…worse is they were taking this money from children’s lunch money.” Or as Ron Swanson might phrase it, “It’s never too early to learn that the government is a greedy piglet that suckles on a taxpayer’s teet…I’m gonna need a different metaphor to give this nine year old.” [KABC]
