Could Hyde Park finally become a hip restaurant destination? It’s been promised many times and has yet to happen, but on the heels of last month’s announcement of the Jared Wentworth-headed restaurant and concert venue The Promontory, comes word that Matthias Merges is planning two new restaurants in a development at Harper and 53rd street. One will be a smaller version of Yusho which will apparently take the Sunday noodles offerings and make them a bigger part of the everyday menu. (We hear there’s something about college students and Asian noodles.) The other is a secret for now, except that it will be more European than Asian, particularly as the historic building they will be in has some vintage tilework they intend to preserve in the design.
