UES fast-casual Greek outpost Mamagyro is aiming to conquer downtown, with a 30-seat shop that should open in December near Union Square. Mamagyro’s second outpost will feature a menu much like the original’s, with a mix of homestyle Greek cooking (gigantes plaki, spanakorizo, dolmades, etc.) and more contemporary fare like the namesake gyros; new for the sub-14th Street crowd will be the mama’s bowl, any salad with meat, rice, and pita chips. Co-owner Vicki Likitsakos attests that everything is housemade, and mentions that the shop will serve beer, wine, “and specialty drinks from Greece.” See the menu below.
