Fox executives may have passed on his convicts turned artisanal jam producers show, but it sounds like NBC certainly likes the sound of Gordon Ramsay’s next show, Inferno. Deadline reports the chef is producing the show, created by Liz Garcia and Josh Harto (Memphis Beat); Michael Mayer (Smash) will direct.

Here’s what Deadline says about the plot:

The Inferno is described as a dark, operatic drama about two fledgling New York restaurateurs who, on the eve of bankruptcy, decide to hire a magnetic, fiery, larger-than-life mysterious Italian chef. His arrival changes these best friends’ fortunes by making their restaurant the talk of the town, giving them everything they’ve ever wanted — but at a terrible cost.

So, basically, Faust in the age of OpenTable, and maybe some risotto from hell, the road to which may or may not be paved with former Kitchen Nightmares contestants. Table linens and temptation: Gosh, count us in.
