If you’ve ever been thrust into the slough of despond that results from arriving at Four & Twenty Blackbirds on a weekend afternoon only to be greeted by a chalkboard that reads “sorry, sold out,” you know how it is. In this town, when pie is at stake, you can’t plan too far in advance. Which is why you may like to know that F&T;’s holiday online orders page is now officially up and running (go to birdsblack.com; no phone or in-person orders allowed, although they will sell you a pie on a first-come-first-served basis if you show up at the shop on November 20, 21, or 22). This year’s flavors: salted caramel apple, bittersweet chocolate pecan, brown butter pumpkin, and the slightly racy sounding salty honey.
