Bushwick's transformation continues: Chocolate company Fine & Raw is set to open a 2,500-square-foot factory and store two blocks from the Morgan L stop in mid-October. The four-year-old chocolatier, which previously outsourced production, will start importing beans from the Dominican Republic, Madagascar, Venezuela, and Bolivia and will make all of their own chocolate bean to bar in house, says owner Daniel Sklaar.
The factory will host tours and include a section for a Chocolate Jungle complete with two cocoa trees, so we can take people through the whole process, says Sklaar. If you would prefer to make your own chocolate, Sklaar and a team of chocolatiers will show you how: In the next year, Sklaar plans to launch a series of classes, including a weeklong intensive seminar.
