A liquor license application was filed yesterday with SLA for 1703-1705 Second Avenue, the former home of Elaine’s. The restaurant, once home to a nonstop party of New York’s power elite and several generations of writers, directors, and other cultural figures, closed last May, just five months after the death of namesake and proprietor Elaine Kaufman. In January, it was reported that the developer Robert Skolnick was renovating the property and was in talks with a “young, up-and-coming” restaurant group to run a restaurant within the same space. The new liquor license application lists Louis Ceruzzi Jr., a real-estate developer and entrepreneur, as the principal for the address. We’re sure there will be many more details on this one in the next few weeks. [SLA, Earlier]
