Want to drink gin in an atmosphere somewhat reminiscent of the Mythbusters exhibit at the Museum of Science & Industry? You’ll get tossed out if you try it there, but the next best thing will be at Salvage One, 1840 W. Hubbard Street, tonight and tomorrow night as Hendrick’s Gin unveils Hendrick’s Delightfully Peculiar Cocktail Academy. From 7 to 10 p.m. you’re invited to a “Voyage Into The Unusual” which is to say, tastings and talks on cocktails and botanicals, but done with an elaborate Victorian explorer-by-way-of-Terry-Gilliam atmosphere that sounds right jolly fun, actually, including music by a band called White Ghost Shivers, a cocktail specially devised for the Chicago stop of the tour that uses Hum liqueur and peach tea from Rare Tea Cellars, and other delights. To get an invite, you need to RSVPhere.
