NPR takes a look today at the insidious underworld of fake online user reviews — you know, the ones that are often a liiiittle too glowing (not counting the odd politically biased commentary) on Yelp, TripAdvisor, etc. Interestingly, they point out that fake reviews are now a fineable offense according to the Federal Trade Commission, not that that’s stopping anyone.
