What to Eat at Numero 28 Cucina, Expanding Beyond Pizza on the UWS
Sure, you’ll find pizza on the menu of Numero 28 Cucina — which bows tonight on the Upper West Side — but there’s also a much more extensive Italian menu than that found at the city’s three Numero 28 pizzerias. For this location, Numero 28’s owners have brought in chef Philip Guardione (Piccola Cucina), who’s added a Sicilian spin to things with grilled fish and meats and seafood-leaning pastas, including a tonnarelli alla carbonara di spada (swordfish). Desserts by pastry chef Jemiko Solomnishvili lean Sicilian as well, including a torta made from buffalo-milk ricotta, hazelnut cake, and pears. But don’t worry — there’s still plenty of pizza, fired in the restaurant’s wood-burning oven. See photos and the menu straight ahead.
