That nearly mythical salted caramel budino that Marcie Turney and Valerie Safran have gotten Pennsylvania Turnpike-like milage out of since opening Barbuzzo two years ago just might have some new competition. Inky critic Craig LaBan threw down the dessert gauntlet yesterday when he spotlighted the butterscotch and bourbon pie from newly opened Magpie on South Street in “Good Taste.” LaBan says the “slice of pure indulgence,” which comes across as “butterscotch silk with a bourbon punch,” is so “really good,” that it could possibly unseat the almighty last course that’s been such a big hit over on 13th Street.
