"Page Six" "hears" the news that everyone else knew more than a month ago: Celebrated Chicago chef Koren Grieveson, formerly of Avec, is headed to New York. Ostensibly it's for personal reasons, but surely the 2010 James Beard Best Chef winner must be on the lookout for cooking gigs, right?
The unexpected end of Grieveson's fourteen-year partnership with Paul Kahan was announced last month in a press release. The chef, who was also named a Food & Wine Best New Chef in 2008, helped build Blackbird and Avec into the critically acclaimed restaurants they are now. She was the latter restaurant's chef de cuisine for nine years. "Grieveson will come to New York with an impressive record and should have no trouble landing a high-profile position," Grub Street Chicago wrote, "assuming she wants one."
Well, whether she wants one or not, we're certainly open to the idea.
