Frontera Fresco To Open On Northwestern University Campus in Evanston

We were just talking about the underexciting state of dining around the U of C; Northwestern in Evanston has always been a bit better off, and Evanston generally moreso (Edzo’s!). Now the college kids, if not the townies of Evanston, are getting a treat in the form of Frontera Fresco, one of Rick Bayless’s spinoffs which have different names depending on who his partners are (this is the same as the one inside Macy’s), but a roughly similar menu of tacos and tortas and the like, and more importantly, Bayless’s commitment to fresh local ingredients. The bad news is that it will be located inside Norris Hall, which makes it an unlikely spot for other Evanstonians to just stroll into, but given that it was the result of Northwestern officials responding to students complaining about the quality of what they had before, like Sbarro’s, it’s a win-win for the university community, at least. And anyway, if you live in Evanston, you already knew to go to the one inside the Macy’s at Old Orchard, right? [Chicagoist/Daily Northwestern]
