We received a rather anxious email over the weekend from Swedish chef Magnus Nilsson’s publisher, the gist of which was that nearly everything we were told about the upcoming dinner in his honor at The Publican was wrong in some way. The date is indeed October 16, not October 6; a reader suggested this in the comments last week, but we could find nothing at the time to confirm it one way or the other. Chef Magnus Nilsson will be the guest of honor, but he won’t be cooking; Publican staff will be preparing dishes based on, but not necessarily exactly from, his cookbook. Fäviken is not on an island, and no one disappeared there, and the disappearance is not being investigated by a girl with a dragon tattoo… okay, we’re exaggerating now, but anyway, so far as we know the phone number at least was correct; call 312-733-9555 for reservations. The other half of the piece, about another Swedish Chef, Håkan Thörnström of Michelin-starred Thörnströms Kök in Gothenburg, being at Kendall College at September 10 and actually cooking a sitdown dinner with Kendall students, remains accurate so far as we’ve heard; go here for tickets.
