DeKalb Market Will Go Out With a Pig Roast

A pig roast is not a bad way to end things.

The last day of DeKalb Market — sadly, it’s Sunday — will be filled with the smell of roasting pig and the sounds of live music. As you’ll recall, the shipping-container bazaar is being ousted (prematurely, some say) to make way for retail and residential development. To send itself off, Maharlika is offering a Filippino-style pig-roast plate for $30; there’s live music from Monogold, Dinowalrus, and Sinkane; games of ping-pong; and a bouncy castle for kids. Last we’d heard, DeKalb was seeking new digs — more on that as it shapes up. [Earlier]
