Tu Lan May Be Closed for Good; Its Permit Was Revoked

Say goodbye to the city’s tastiest, greasiest Imperial Rolls. News arrived in late July that Tu Lan (8 6th Street) had been temporarily shut down by the health department for like the third time in a year, and as of yesterday the Department of Public Health revoked the restaurant’s permit. It’s a rare move for the department, which gives restaurant owners many chances to rectify their wrongs, but a couple restaurants a year meet this fate. Owner Anthony Nguyen appeared at the hearing and pledged to clean the place up, but health officer Tomas Aragon was unmoved, and that may be the nail in the restaurant’s coffin. Nguyen can still appeal to the Appeals board, however it’s unclear if he’ll be doing that. [Chron]
