Running towards Tijuana is not too strange a reaction when considering one’s impending nuptials, but at least this time, it’s not like that. Street Gourmet L.A. Bill Esparza is taking Animal’s Jon Shook and ink’s Michael Voltaggio to Mexico this week (under a blanket, in the back of a van), ferrying the chefs to the Baja restaurant of Diego Hernandez, that mastermind Anthony Bourdain recently called “the Mexican Jedi Knight chef” on No Reservations. The two L.A. chefs will cook at Corazon de Tierra, the restaurant attached to La Villa del Valle Country Retreat in the Valle de Guadalupe, playing around with Baja’s bounty while contributing a pair of courses to the restaurant’s first anniversary celebration menu. Reservations for the $70 dinner (roughly 918 pesos) are available on the restaurant’s website.
