The Purple Shamrock Says Goodbye With an Irish Wake

RIP.
RIP.

Whether you love it or hate it or blame it for one too many college hangovers, the Purple Shamrock is a local legend. It’s closing after 32 years in business, though, so it’s time to hurry in for one last drink or twelve. In true Irish fashion, they’ll hold a wake to go out in style.

The final date is Saturday, September 15, and a week of “traditional Irish festivities” are planned. On September 13, the Shamrock will host a wake complete with an empty casket, trailed by bag pipers. Last call on Saturday means a full St. Patrick’s Day menu and green beer.

The Glynn Group is plenty busy, though; they just opened Granary Tavern and will open Sterling’s in the coming months.
