Pronti Bistro Yields Surprise Morning Treats

Every so often, Grub Street gets lost stumbles across a delectable restaurant in an obscure location. Pronti Bistro is one such place. It’s an Indian takeout restaurant that specializes in “pronti,” which are essentially warm wraps filled with well-spiced treats like eggplant, tandoori chicken, and chickpeas. It’s in a funny little corner on the edge of Newton and Needham, not far from Route 128, with an angular parking lot that could cause nervous breakdowns. Intriguingly, they offer breakfast.

Get the Punjab Nashta, a heaping pronti stuffed with scrambled eggs, scallions, tomatoes, peppers, onions, and coriander. Ask for it slathered with hot mango chutney. At $4.99, it’s a steal. There’s also an omelette station, French toast, and aloo slices, slivers of potatoes sauteed and spiced. Breakfast even comes with your choice of fruit! Next time you’re simmering in traffic on 95 South, we suggest a pitstop.
