Falafel Shop Now Open in LES; Upper West Siders Miffed Over Hot-Dog Cart

• Join Les Salonnieres for a tiki-style dinner party celebrating the open of Fashion Week. Polynesian dishes (and some limbo) are the theme of the night, with oysters, a pupu platter from the coconut grill, grilled tilapia, plus ice cream topped with fried bananas. • Residents of the co-op Beresford (Central Park West at 81st Street) have filed a series of complaints against a hot-dog vendor who posts up outside the subway stop in front of the pricey address, which houses Jerry Seinfeld, John McEnroe, and Diana Ross. The building manager says the cart, which has been slinging hot dogs there since the spring, poses a “safety hazard” plus adds trash along the street and “overflowing garbage receptacles.” [TRD]

• This Labor Day, you can do the backyard party thing without missing out on live music and chef-prepared food thing. Do or Dine in Bed-Stuy hosts Rub-a-Grub behind the quirky restaurant with food from Food Network Star’s Justin Warner and George McNeese, plus three acts from the Sound Liberation Front.
