In the second of our two videos celebrating Julia Child’s 100th birthday (the first is here), her longtime friend chef Jean Joho (Everest and Paris Club in Chicago, Eiffel Tower Restaurant in Las Vegas, and Brasserie Jo in Boston) looks back on his friendship with her, dating back to his first arrival in the U.S. when she came to his restaurant with Craig Claiborne. In particular, he remembers Julia’s spectacular 80th birthday party, organized by Michel Richard in Los Angeles … and her delight at how he solved the problem of having to cook foie gras for 500 people that were a freeway away.
