Down East Sails Into the LES This Weekend

A walk-by today finds action at the former home of Fisk, the Scandinavian takeout annex next door to now-closed White Slab Palace, now Grey Lady. Grey’s co-owner Ryan Chadwick was in the house, and he tells us he’ll open Down East in the space this weekend. The takeout seafood joint (named for Chadwick’s native Maine) will be open for lunch and dinner, with walls papered in vintage lobster and clam posters, and a few counter seats. On the menu: clam and lobster rolls, a fish sandwich, a hot dog, and possibly the only takeout oysters-on-the-half-shell in town. Behind the shop, in the space that used to house White Slab Palace’s back room, Chadwick and his partners are building a 24-person private dining room decorated like an “angler’s club,” he says.
