Crab Feast Tickets on Sale; Bowery House Owners Open a Restaurant

• Local sushi chain Haru will close its Park Avenue location on August 24. They will, however, continue to deliver, and the other locations in midtown and Gramercy Park will remain open. [Grub Street]

• Ever on the move, Organic Avenue is opening a new location in Chelsea tomorrow. The store opens at 8 a.m. and will sell cold-pressed juices, vegan meals, and more. [Grub Street]

• On August 9, 18, and 15, Back Forty will hold their signature crab boils, this time on the Rockaway Beach Boardwalk at 96th Street. The cost for the outdoor venture with live entertainment is $25 per person and includes a bucket of spiced blue crabs, corn, and potatoes. [Grub Street]

• Critics at the Jewish Daily Forward took on an important cultural item this week: hummus. The staffers sampled 32 varieties of the stuff, including traditional Israeli varieties and store-brand packaged flavors. Their verdict for the city’s best hummus is here. [The Forward]

• More crab news: Tickets for the Hammer & Claws annual all-you-can-eat crab feast are now on sale. There will be three sessions, with one on each evening of September 7, 8, and 9. The event will take place in the historic tunnel space of the Terminal Store building in Chelsea, and the cost is $89 per person. [Grub Street]

Randolph at Broome, the sister restaurant to Randolph Beer, has introduced a new bar-snacks menu that mimics that of its down-the-street sibling. Items include corn off the cob, cheddar brat, and “evil” sprouts. [Grub Street]

Pat LaFrieda will unveil today an upscale twist on ball-game food: a new filet mignon steak sandwich. The sandwich will be sold at LaFrieda’s first and only retail location, a stand in Taste of the City behind the center-field scoreboard and section 139. • The guys behind Bowery House have taken on a culinary venture: The Bowery Kitchen will open Thursday near Prince Street to serve up creative dishes, from fontina egg breakfast sandwiches to whole-wheat salmon lasagna; don’t forget to try their exclusive Bowery brew. [Thrillist]
