Ataya, Serving West African Tapas, Opens Next to Little Baobab Tonight

Baobab owner Marco Senghor announced today that he’ll be softly opening the new, more loungey part of Little Baobab (3372-3388 19th Street) tonight under the name Ataya African Lounge. It’s a concept that’s been a long time in the making, as Senghor put Bissap Baobab on the market about three years ago, finally selling it to the Bullitt/Tonic boys last year, who turned it into Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. Little Baobab is more of a music venue these days, so Senghor has taken the former Bollyhood Café space next door and turned it into Ataya, which will be more focused on West African food and cocktails. Also, it’ll be serving late, with closing at 2 a.m. [Eater]
