Cold News: Yuji Done at Kinfolk Studios

It may be bloody hot out, but just when we needed the refreshment of Yuji Ramen’s cool Mazeman noodles the most, Zagat notices the Kinfolk Studios pop-up has called it quits. If you’ve been keeping up, you’ll know that Yuji and Nordic power-spot Frej have been sharing Kinfolk’s blank-slate garage-y space, each operating certain nights of the week — until last week. Yuji’s Facebook page contains a message from founder Yuji Haraguchi stating that “From now, I will spend more time to study regional ingredients and contemporary culinary techniques in order to pursue the true Brooklyn style Ramen.” That sounds promising. For now Haraguchi will be Smorgasburg, so we’ll have to get our fix there. When we called Kinfolk up to see whether this news might mean perenially booked Frej could add more nights (it currently operates Monday through Wednesday evenings), an employee told us “Were not sure if Frej is going to take over more nights or if we’re going to bring someone new in.” Stay tuned.
