So it’s looking like that mysterious project that Stephen Starr is working on next door to his Fishtown German beer garden, Frankford Hall, is going to be a barbecue joint. But not just any old low-and-slow-smoked meats dispensary. This one will reportedly be an annexation of legendary Williamsburg smokehouse Fette Sau. Though parties supposedly involved in the project will not confirm it, everyone else is reporting it as fact. The only kernel of truth appears to be the Insider’s claim that Fette Sau owner Joe Carroll is the name on the liquor license application. Hopefully this won’t turn into another of these Starr and Ken Friedman opening a Spotted Pig in Philly situations, or worse, a troubled partnership like the one that brought Marcus Samuelsson to Washington Square (now Talula’s Garden) for a hot minute back in 2005.
