Well, taking some time off with the family didn’t last long— in fact, it never actually started. Shin Thompson’s last dinner at Bonsoiree is still supposed to be about two weeks off (if the original date given remains valid) but in the meantime he told Eater what his next spot will be. He and Ryan O’Donnell, owner of Gemini Bistro and Rustic Kitchen with Jason Paskewitz, will partner on an as-yet-unnamed “modern Asian” restaurant at 952 W. Lake (about a block east of Vera). The restaurant will seat about 120, and offer both a standard menu and chef’s tasting menu, as well as a full beverage program. It sounds as if Thompson, having built Bonsoiree from a modest neighborhood BYO run by two caterers into a Michelin-starred restaurant, is eager to come downtown and compete on equal terms with the big name chefs of his generation. It certainly jumps onto our list of the upcoming openings we’re most eager to try; watch for it in early 2013. [Eater]
