Orange County may not want our food trucks hanging around, but it’s more than pleased to cherry-pick our favorite restaurants. Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles is soon to join Mozza’s House of James Beard Winners, along with such other L.A. exports as Pitfire Pizza, Umami Burger, Surfas, and Fig & Olive, in coming to an O.C. address.

Roscoe’s is taking shape in a 5,000-square-foot space “about a half mile from Disneyland,” The O.C. Register reports, setting the stage for the biggest Roscoe’s yet, as well as the southernmost location following the chain’s Long Beach address, though talk of a San Diego expansion has also been overheard.

An opening is expected in roughly three months and this being O.C. and Disneyland turf all, a construction manager on the project reveals the questionable decision to make the new, two-story Roscoe’s “themed as a Southern plantation.”

Hmmmm. We get the feeling that’s not really such a good idea after all. How about picking something potentially less offensive. A drunken pirate rampage? A psychedelic tea party? Just please, Roscoe’s, anything but going antebellum on us.
