Anthony Bourdain’s trip to Philly this week proved to be quite thrill, but he was hardly the only celebrity making the rounds. While he and The Layover crew were checking out Amis, Stateside and other attractions, forthcoming film Paranoia brought Harrison Ford, Ricahrd Dreyfus and others to town. While Ford has yet to surface, a well-placed tipster at R2L tells Grub that Richard Dreyfus stopped in there for dinner last Friday. Dreyfus and his wife dined with another guest, and Chef Daniel Stern personally served them several “special dishes.” The very next night, Wayne Brady also came in for dinner.
Brady, who sat at the same exact table that the Dreyfus party occupied the night before, enjoyed a few glasses of rose cava and one of the restaurant’s signature cocktails — Citron vodka, ginger liquor, peach schnapps, and a twist. He and his guests ordered chilled oysters, a chicken entree, and finished with R2L’s signature warm vanilla cake with a scoop of ice cream.
Meanwhile soccer superstar David Beckham and his Major League Soccer All-Star teammates holed up at Palomar Hotel. Square 1682 chef Guillermo Tellez helped the team load up on carbs, serving them spaghetti and lasagna. Apparently the truffled popcorn was a big hit, as were desserts. [HughE Dillon One-Shot]
With a day off and nothing to do, Anthrax founding guitarist Scott Ian (the dude with the weird beard thing going on) ducked into Reading Terminal Market, and moshed it up with a roast pork, sharp provolone and broccoli rabe sandwich from DiNic’s. [Scott Ian/Twitter]
Last night, Miley Cyrus was carded and denied entry into Gayborhood mainstay Woody’s, and was directed to enter the club via its under 21 entrance. She reportedly hung out and danced there for about an hour. [Philly Chit Chat]
