Since mid-May, Tribeca Citzen has floated the rumor that bean-to-bar chocolate-makers the Mast Brothers are opening a retail shop on Water Street, as part of the recently rebooted Seaport Museum. While not officially confirmed, multiple sources tell Grub Street that Rick and Michael Mast, who are also working on their first cookbook, will open a combination retail and exhibit space inside the Museum’s Thompson Warehouse before the end of the summer. The building at 213 Water Street dates to 1868 and is all exposed brick and beams. In other words, it’s a perfect place for the award-winning food producers, who make bars with measures of traditional and new food culture. With all that available dock space nearby, perhaps it’s time for the guys to raise the sails once again. [Tribeca Citizen, Earlier, Related]
